Mrs. Tisdale, is thrilled to be part of the Grant Elementary family for my second year. I have the joy of teaching first grade, and I am incredibly excited to work alongside you and your child as we embark on a wonderful school year together.
I am happily married to my husband, Derrick, and we are blessed with two amazing children, Kerris and Derrick II. Family is the heart of my life, and I cherish every moment spent with them. In my spare time, I enjoy gathering with family and friends, watching engaging docuseries, and diving into creative crafting projects. One of my greatest passions is traveling and uncovering the remarkable wonders scattered across our beautiful country.
In my classroom, my daily goal is to cultivate a learning environment that celebrates creativity, acceptance, safety, and support. I believe in working hard, lifting each other up, and striving for continuous growth — because together, we can achieve greatness. I look forward to an exciting and successful year ahead! #soaringtogreaterheights #theaglesway

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom. This news arrived more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and it marked the effective end of slavery in Texas, the last Confederate state to receive the news.
Juneteenth became a federal holiday in the United States on June 17, 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. This act made June 19th, the date commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, a federal holiday.

Memorial Day, a federal holiday held the last Monday in May, is the nation's foremost annual day to mourn and honor its deceased service men and women.
Originally called Decoration Day, it was formalized by a "Memorial Day Order" issued by Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan in 1868.
The modern proclamation calls on Americans "to observe Memorial Day by praying, according to their individual religious faith, for permanent peace."
"That Nation which respects and honors its dead, shall ever be respected and honored itself.”
– Brevet Lieut.-Col. Edmund B. Whitman, 1868
